Our work and how to instruct us
Lawyers for Nature seeks to address one of the biggest issues in the law relating to nature protection and environmental activism, which is the prohibitive cost of legal advice and representation. Our members are highly skilled and qualified lawyers who are committed to offering their services in service to the natural world for significantly less than lawyers would usually charge. Our aim is that cost should not be a factor prohibiting the natural world receiving the legal protection that it needs.

Legal guidance on protecting the natural world
The legal system can often seem like a confusing place, seemingly designed deliberately to make it difficult for people to understand and participate in. At Lawyers for Nature we seek to empower people to use the law themselves to protect the natural world. We have a number of simple fact sheets that provide an easy to understand primer on different areas of law, as well as indicating books and online resources for those want to read further. We also aim to have a number of online forms to simplify legal processes, such as the process of applying for Tree Preservation Orders.
Campaigns to protect the natural world
Although we aim to do our utmost to protect the natural world through existing law, we recognise that the current legal system and framework is fundamentally not set up to properly protect nature. Campaigning is therefore also a crucial part of the work of Lawyers for Nature. By recording how the law is currently being used to protect or destroy the natural world, we aim to point to the flaws and inadequacies in the existing law. This will then form a key part of any campaign to amend the law to afford better protection to the natural world. You can find our current campaigns, and those we are supporting, on our ‘Campaigns’ page. We also regularly post updates about nature protection campaigns on our news page.
